Throwback Thursday!

I’ve decided to take part in the internet’s obsession with nostalgia and indulge Throwback Thursday here on my blog. Today’s entry is part 1 of 2 that will be continued next Throwback Thursday.

I was born and raised in El Paso, TX but we visited the Los Angeles area many times on family vacations. The photo above, which is me, was taken at Venice Beach on our first family trip to LA in the early 90’s. Probably 1991 or 1992, definitely on a beach though. I’m obviously doing a sort of model-esque pose. My sister sent me this shot in a email with the subject “East of Eden?”, she might’ve been confusing that for “From Here to Eternity” but I could (though very rarely) be wrong.

I do have a vague recollection of this photo being taken. Much clearer is afterward when we walked on Muscle Beach and bought new clothes for the ones I clearly ruined in the ocean. I remember my little brother dancing naked in the t-shirt shop, as it was “Shake your booty time”. And then my mom bought us both matching TMNT knock off t-shirts that we wore later in the trip.

Top 5 Marvel Movies:

Today marks the Blu-Ray/DVD release of “Iron Man 3”, which was one of my favorite movies of the summer movie season. To celebrate I’ve decided to make a list of my favorite Marvel Comics related movies. According to Wikipedia there are 30 Marvel feature films that have been released in theaters, all of which I’ve seen, 23 of them in the theater shortly after release. Here are my personal choices for the Top 5 true believers…

The Ghostbusters, of course.

That’s how I answer probably the greatest question ever asked in song, “Who ya gonna call?” This grammatically incorrect question has followed me around as far back as I can remember. I would hope that everybody I know would have a similar answer to that question. It would make me feel better to know that.

“Ghostbusters” is my favorite movie, anybody that knows me knows that. I wish I could say that it is something only true friends know about me but just about anybody that has remotely come into contact with me knows this fact. I’m not embarrassed by it but I am a bit of a “Ghostbusters” slut I guess. Or maybe a “Ghostbusters” preacher, sharing the good word with all that will listen.
